The speed and quality of response to new information determine the level of market efficiency. The lower speed and quality will result in lower efficiency. The weak level of market efficiency is a condition in which the price of an asset is predictable with publicly available information. In another word, prices are following a predictable pattern and not moving based on the random walk hypothesis. This study compares and evaluates a weak level of efficiency in future and spot market of gold coins. Methods: This study examines gold coin transactions and the efficiency of future contracts in various futures and cash markets. By using the daily return of gold coins from 2008 to 2018 and R software, the paper examines the weak form of efficiency through random walks and martingale difference sequence hypotheses. Results: Using 10 year period data from 2008 to 2018 demonstrates inefficiency in all markets. However, compared to the other markets, the cash coin market has a relatively higher level of market efficiency. We found that there is an indirect relationship between the term of the contract and its efficiency. The weak form efficiency of the contracts is lower in the future contracts with a longer term to maturity. The probability of rejecting the weak form of efficiency is higher in futures markets. Conclusion: Considering a higher level of weak efficiency in the cash market (in comparison with the future markets) and the indirect relationship between the term of the contract and the level of efficiency, investors are encouraged to focus on the gold coin cash market. Price changes in the cash market are less predictable than in other markets. As a result, this market is recommended for passive investors who buy and hold the asset.}, keywords = {Market efficiency,Random Walk,Martingale difference sequence,Gold futures market,Gold Spot market}, title_fa = {مقایسه کارایی اطلاعاتی بین بازارهای نقد و آتی سکه طلا}, abstract_fa = {هدف: بر اساس فرضیه بازار کارا، منظور از کارایی اطلاعاتی، موقعیتی است که در بازار، قیمت‌ها به‌سرعت نسبت به اطلاعات جدید تعدیل شوند. سرعت و کیفیت واکنش به اطلاعات، سطح کارایی بازار را مشخص می‌کند. در اولین سطح از سطوح کارایی بازار، یعنی سطح ضعیف آن، میزان پیش‌بینی‌پذیری قیمت‌ها با استفاده از داده‌های تاریخی مشخص می‌شود. در این پژوهش، به مقایسه و ارزیابی کارایی اطلاعاتی سطح ضعیف در بازارهای آتی و نقد سکه طلا پرداخته شده است. روش: برای آزمون سطح ضعیف کارایی، معاملات سکه طلا در بازارهای مختلف آتی و نقد بررسی شده است. اطلاعات مربوط به متغیر بازدهی قیمت روزانه سکه طلا در بازارهای یاد شده، در دوره زمانی سال‌های 1387 تا 1397جمع‌آوری شدند و با استفاده از نرم‌افزار R و آزمون‌های گام‌ تصادفی و دنبالۀ تفاضل مارتینگل، سطح ضعیف کارایی آزمون و مقایسه شد. یافته‌ها: با بررسی نتایج در بازه زمانی سال‌های 1387 تا 1397 مواردی از ناکارایی در همه بازارها مشاهده شد. با وجود این، در مقایسه میان بازارهای بررسی شده، کارایی سطح ضعیف بازار سکه طلای نقد، نسبتاً بیشتر بود. افزایش بازه زمانی بازدهی مقایسه‌شده نیز به افزایش موارد تأیید کارایی انجامید. همچنین، کارایی در بازارهای آتی با افزایش مدت زمان سررسید قراردادها کاهش نشان داد. نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به بیشتر بودن کارایی سطح ضعیف در بازار نقد نسبت به بازارهای آتی و افزایش کارایی در مقایسه بازدهی طولانی‌تر، به سرمایه‌گذاران پیشنهاد می‌شود که به بازار سکه طلای نقد و سیاست‌گذاری‌های سرمایه‌گذاری در آن، نگاه بلندمدت‌تری داشته باشند. تغییرات قیمت در این بازار به نسبت سایر بازارهای بررسی شده در این پژوهش، قابلیت پیش‌بینی کمتری داشتند و راهکارهای مبتنی بر خرید و نگهداری در آن مؤثرتر خواهند بود.}, keywords_fa = {Market efficiency,Random Walk,Martingale difference sequence,Gold futures market,Gold Spot market}, url = {https://jfr.ut.ac.ir/article_83582.html}, eprint = {https://jfr.ut.ac.ir/article_83582_e345ca84f911dc93a3368b4a4d3cca1b.pdf} }
